Mark Gregston

Mark has spent the last 40 years dedicating his efforts to helping teens and families as a Young Life Area Director, youth pastor and for the last 35 years, as a director of a residential counseling center for teens.  Mark began Heartlight, a residential ministry to teens and their families, twenty-eight years ago.  Since it’s inception, Heartlight has been home to over 2,800 young people.   As Executive Director of Heartlight, Mark and his wife of 40 years live at Heartlight and remain actively involved in the lives of the parents and teens, and leads all the parent and family retreats on the property.

Mark also leads the Families in Crisis Conferences held at Heartlight eight times a year.  He also spends most weekends speaking at conferences, retreats, or seminars around North America.  A popular speaker, Mark spoke to over 200,000 people last year.

In addition to an extensive travel schedule, Mark has written twelve books about parenting and dealing with struggling teens.  His weekly parenting newsletter has a readership of over 500,000.

He is also the host of the nationally syndicated radio program, Parenting Today’s Teens with Mark Gregston.  This radio program, in it’s short feature and thirty minute format, is heard on over 1,600 radio stations.  The program recently was awarded the National Religious Broadcaster’s 2014 Radio Program of the Year.

As the Chief Executive Officer of Heartlight Ministries, Mark works to provide opportunities to parents to keep them from ever having to send their child to Heartlight.  His curriculum series are taught throughout North America.  He is profoundly dedicated to helping parents caught in difficult situations with their teens, as well as preparing parents of younger children for their child’s upcoming adolescent years.

When not traveling to speak at an event, Mark spends his time at home in Hallsville, Texas with his wife, Jan.  They have two children, both of whom work for Heartlight, and 4 grandchildren.  Surrounded by Heartlight kids, their dog, two llamas, one donkey and way too many horses, Mark and Jan love extending a hand of hospitality welcoming parents and teens in their home.

Adam Gregston

Director of Development & Strategy

Adam grew up on Heartlight property in Hallsville, Texas since the first day that the Gregstons moved to begin the ministry.  He attended Baylor University where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in both Finance and Risk Management and Insurance.  Upon graduating, Adam went on to have a ten year career in restructuring, strategy, and litigation consulting before coming back to work with his family to expand Heartlight to gain exposure for all of its resources and initiatives beyond the outreach of the boarding school. Adam’s extensive business background plays an integral part in managing all non-residential outreaches, including the development of donors, fundraising strategies, and strategic efforts. He and his wife, Nicole, reside outside of Dallas, Texas with their two little ones, Chase and Carter.  When Adam has down time he enjoys traveling, sports (especially the Texas Rangers)…and playing outdoors with his kids.

Sam Sheeley

Director of Marketing

Sam is from Jacksonville, Illinois and attended Illinois Wesleyan University where he earned a degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing. Before he moved to Texas, Sam was working in marketing for a small company. Then God placed a burden on his heart to make a difference in the lives of kids, leading him to pursue the job at Heartlight. He’s worked for Heartlight for ten years, three of which were spent living in house with the residents.  Sam’s fun and easy-going personality allow him to adapt well to new situations and relate positively to the residents. As a matter of fact, Sam still spends an large amount of his time hanging out with the kids at Heartlight, while overseeing all the conferences, seminars, publishing, and radio efforts to help more and more parents. In his free time, Sam enjoys music and spending time with friends and family.
