Successful Seminars / During the Event

Greeters

Some people who come will be hurting or struggling themselves, and a handshake and inviting word can ease their embarrassment about admitting their need for help. Wisdom must be used in selecting greeters, as that initial contact will set the atmosphere for the rest of the meeting.

Handouts

A notebook might be used to contain all the notes to be presented at the seminar, a calendar of upcoming youth events and announcements of groups forming to discuss struggling teens, as well as other items pertinent to teens in your area. A Master Copy of the notes for the seminar will be provided at least a week before the event, with permission to make as many copies as necessary.

Refreshments

When planning refreshments, take into consideration the timing of your event. Consider planning a dinner or dessert before the Friday night portion and having light breakfast fare available on Saturday morning. Have a variety of beverages available to accommodate different tastes.

Note Cards

Note cards are distributed to all attendees on Friday night to give them the opportunity to ask that “one question” that they want to make sure is answered before they go home. Pens will be needed as well.

Lighting

It is best to light the seating area of the room being used. Therefore, the projector being used must be strong enough that the house lights will not take away from Mark’s presentation. If there is not a projector of at least 2000 lumens available, please let Amanda Childress know and Mark will bring one.

Music

Consider having appropriate music playing in the background before and after the event.
