Heartlight Cost Information

Heartlight StudentsTuition

Heartlight’s monthly tuition, room and board is generally less expensive than comparable residential programs since a portion of the actual operating cost is underwritten by generous donations of individuals and organizations. Heartlight’s facility, atmosphere, and opportunity are second to none.

Please call us or send in the inquiry form to inquire about our current tuition schedule. And keep in mind that even if our tuition rates or program are not a good fit for your child, we can help you find another program that is more appropriate. We offer this additional help as a free service to you and your teen.

Application Fee

A $300 non-refundable application fee is required upon the submission of a Heartlight application. Should a teen be accepted into the Heartlight program, this fee will be applied to the first month’s tuition. We will gladly discuss your teen’s needs and situation prior to your submission of an application. Please see the inquiry form.

Admission Fee

There is a one time non-refundable admission fee of $950 due before the on-site 2-3 hour interview with our admission staff and a staff counselor.

Academic Course Charges

During the initial months of your child’s stay at Heartlight, they will either be at the Boy’s Heartlight East House, or the Girl’s Heartlight South House. Their schooling on-property utilizes the Texas Tech curriculum with supervision and teaching from our teaching staff. Print-based courses are $170 per one semester course.  Each middle school course will be $125 per one semester course. The admission fee will be $80 for each student enrolling in the TTUISD program. If a student has been admitted to TTUISD and drops out for one semester or more from TTUISD, there will be a $40 readmission fee. A single CBE will be $40 each. There will be a $40 charge for a re-exam for a final exam.

Most often when your child moves up Levels and switches to the Main Campus (usually within 3-4 months), they or you may choose to transition to the local public school with no need to order further Texas Tech curriculum and no further course cost. Some students, however, choose to stay on campus and continue the self-paced Texas Tech program.

Personal Expenses Account — Your Child’s Extra Expenses

Monthly personal expenses for each child vary based on clothing needs, medical and dental expenses, need for toiletries or school supplies, special tutoring, Texas Tech courses at Heartlight East or Heartlight South, and special extra curricular school activities. We ask that this personal expense account be maintained at $400 and whatever is spent from that be reimbursed monthly. The parent must approve all expenses as they occur.

State Victim’s Assistance

If your child was a victim of a crime, chances are your state may provide assistance in getting help for your child. Please call your local or state government agencies to determine if your child may qualify.

Your Church or Group

Several of our residents have been sent to Heartlight through the concerted effort of a local church or Sunday School class. Depending on your circumstances, and your relationship with your church, your pastor or minister might be able to help you determine if this is an option.

Donations from Associates

Many times people hear of one’s struggles, and are motivated to be a financial part of the restoration process. Should you know of people who might want to help in your endeavor to get help for your child, please direct them to this website or call our office and request extra informational packets or our Spirit of Heartlight DVD presentation.

Donations from Family Members

Should family members other than parents or grandparents desire to participate in the making Heartlight a reality in the life of a child, they could take advantage of Heartlight’s 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit status and receive a tax-deduction for the gift.

Insurance

Heartlight does not determine whether your insurance will cover the expense of a child being at Heartlight, your insurance company does. We are not a residential treatment center as we are not medically staffed. We are licensed by the state of Texas as a 24-Hour Residential Child Care Agency.

Heartlight Scholarships

Heartlight desires to help any child. At the same time, we all understand the financial constraints placed on families when seeking help for their child. Subsequently we try to raise as many funds as possible to help as many kids as possible. Our hearts are somewhat bigger than our scholarship funds, with not nearly enough to meet all the requested needs.

Heartlight desires to distribute S]scholarship funds as they are available. Heartlight most often gives $500 to $1,000 a month scholarships, based on need. While we encourage you to ask about the availability of funds, we also ask your understanding about the limitations of our scholarship opportunities. Our level of scholarships is limited to the generosity of others who give so they may be offered.
