    PODCAST SCRIPT:

It’s positive to want your teen to do and be the very best, but don’t go overboard.

Sometimes high expectations for a teenager can cross the line and get mixed up with the parent-child relationship.  The message can be unintentionally sent that we only love and accept them when they measure up.  And that can be incredibly frustrating and demoralizing to a child, especially when they fail.

While we should hold high expectations for our kids, we must also clearly tell them—and show them by our actions and reactions—that they are loved and accepted no matter what.  Make sure your teen knows that nothing they ever do, or fail to do, will ever change your love for them.
