    PODCAST SCRIPT:

True rebellion on the part of a teen can indicate a deeper problem, not just a typical stage of adolescence.

Though some parents consider any form of independent thinking to be rebellion, true rebellion is much deeper and is usually a signal of a broken relationship between parent and child.  It is marked by seeming hatred for the family, willfully breaking the rules, disrespect, or fits of anger.  Or, it can be the silent type, marked by depression, seclusion or self-harm.  Something has developed a rift between the teen and the parent or any authority figure in their life.  So, uncovering the root issue usually requires intervention by a trained counselor.
