    PODCAST SCRIPT:

Picture a pot of water boiling on your stove.  Now tell it to cool down and see what happens.

You can talk to that pot all day, and even raise your voice and yell at it, but it won’t cool down.  Anger in teens works kind of like that.  The heat has been turned on by something in their life, so getting mad at them won’t turn off their anger, it will likely make them even angrier.

Anger is the symptom, not the cause, so seek out the underlying problem that is causing it.  Feelings of loss, disrespect, abandonment or even shame can bring on anger. Only when those issues are dealt with will you be able to turn down the heat.
