    PODCAST SCRIPT:

Kids encountering temptation are better prepared if parents talk about how to handle it, not just that it is wrong.

I once counseled a young man whose parents were shocked by the things they learned he did when he was with his friends.  As I talked with the parents, it became clear that since they assumed he would never drink or get physically involved with his girlfriend, they had never talked to him about those things.

Assumptions like that today are unrealistic.  Your teen will face challenges to the values he’s been taught, daily in the teen years.  So begin early preparing them, by talking about it, role playing situations, and offering appropriate responses to the temptations they will face.
