    PODCAST SCRIPT:

    One of the questions I get asked most often by parents is how I get kids to talk to me.

    I thought that my connection to teens would wane as I got older, but I’ve found instead it’s gotten better.  I’m pretty sure it’s not my mustache or my gray hair.  It’s not even the water skiing or the horses.

    It comes down to three things.  First, I create a safe atmosphere for discussion.  Second, I ask questions and listen without passing judgment.  Third, I only offer advice if it’s asked for.  If you do these you’ll find that your teen will talk to you as well—and you may be surprised by what you find out.
