    PODCAST SCRIPT:

It’s a dangerous world, so many parents have decided to hover over their kids to protect them.

Teachers have noted a rise in what they call “helicopter parents”—parents who continually hover over their children to make sure nothing goes wrong.  Such behavior may be loving and well intentioned, but it can be destructive because it keeps kids from growing up. With parents flying patrol, the kids never get a chance to try out their own wings.

So, as they demonstrate responsibility, give your kids more and more freedom and avoid hovering over them.  They’ll make mistakes, but keep in mind that they’ll never learn from those mistakes if they don’t also experience the consequences.
