    PODCAST SCRIPT:

For the seemingly “perfect child,” always trying to be perfect can be overwhelming; since it’s impossible to achieve.

I’ve had parents sit in my office and tell me, “She’s almost a perfect child.”  My response is, “Then why are you here?”  Truth is, I’ve found many such kids to have deep emotional hurts.  Always trying to be perfect can overwhelm them. There is a near-constant sense of fear, frustration and failure.  And not wanting to be the black sheep, they often end up bitter, both toward their parents and toward God.

If your teenager is attempting to be perfect, give them permission to make mistakes.  Tell them about your own mistakes, and that will help let them off the hook.
