    PODCAST SCRIPT:

The temptation to expect perfection of their kids can be especially strong for Christian parents, who feel that their parenting is being judged by their friends.

In the teenager’s desire for control, they may choose to show their independence by “proving” that they don’t have to measure up to their parent’s expectations.  Or, they may be taking steps in the right direction, but their parents fail to see that they are already doing their best in a difficult struggle with their culture.

My advice to these parents is to give your teenager permission to be human.  Yes, they’ll make poor decisions, so hold them accountable, but your job is to encourage them to keep trying to get it right.
