  • Burned By Scrutiny (3-11-2011)

    PODCAST SCRIPT:

Unrealistic scrutiny can be placed on the children of Christian leaders such that they feel they are living “under a magnifying glass” and getting burned.

Preachers’ kids often don’t get the same room to make mistakes that other kids do.  It’s hard for them to feel that they can be authentic, for they are always on display. Pressure for perfection can come from within the home, as well as from other adults and young people, leading them to exasperation.

The point is, give these kids a break. They are no different from any other, and lifting them up as examples of perfection or as clones of their parents is unrealistic. It often pushes them to show everyone how imperfect they can be.
