    PODCAST SCRIPT:

It’s easy to be so overwhelmed by problems with your teenager’s behavior that you fail to recognize the progress they are making.

Progress means steady improvement. So, if your child was screaming and slamming doors every day, and then only does so every other day – it’s progress!  Finishing some of their homework, when they previously did no homework, is progress.

Teens bristle at anyone trying to “change them.” They may or may not be comfortable in their own skin, but they’ll fiercely defend who they are now, and how they think.   So, instead of insisting on wholesale changes, recognize their small steps. Turnarounds rarely happen overnight.  Instead, look for and congratulate your teen for their progress.
