    PODCAST SCRIPT:

Parents who fail to give their teenagers everything they want, succeed in teaching personal responsibility.

Those who sacrifice and save for what they want are more careful to maintain it when they get it.  For instance, a boy saves for months to buy a new skateboard.  He’s felt the pain of waiting and working for that board, so he cherishes and protects it, as if it were a part of him. It therefore lasts for years.  His friend gets the same board, but his parents bought it for him.  So he treats it like it’s replaceable. And it’s broken and in the dumpster in a few days.

Teaching a teen to be discerning and to maintain what he has is as simple as making him work and save for it.
