    PODCAST SCRIPT:

It is said, “The most important thing parents can teach their children is how to get along without them.”

I recommend setting up a fund for your teen on their 13th birthday. Through that account, you can teach them how to wisely save and spend money for their own needs and necessities.

Sit down with them and plan out a budget, then supplement the account accordingly. Teach them to shop for the best deals and don’t bail them out if they spend their money foolishly. They also need to learn what it means to go without.

Learning responsibility in finances teaches your teen self-control, not only in spending, but in every aspect of life.
