    PODCAST SCRIPT:

Parents sometimes encourage their teenagers to be untruthful.  Are you doing so?

We teach our kids to lie when we lie ourselves.  Kids need to know that lying isn’t acceptable, no matter what our position in life or our age. Even half-truths are whole lies.

Secondly, we encourage lying by unreasonably punishing our children for mistakes.  Doing so makes it a safer bet for them to lie than to tell the truth and be submitted to improper punishment.

Third, lying is encouraged when we do nothing when we catch our children in a lie.

To ensure that lying doesn’t become a way of life for your child, be sure to hold your teen accountable to always tell the truth.
