Contributing Factors (11-10-2010)

If your teenager has a problem with making right choices, don’t jump to the conclusion that they are being rebellious, sinful or defiant. Sometimes other factors can be at play.

Families going through emotional struggles, splits, or extra stress can bring on behavioral problems in their teenagers.  Or, misbehavior can be brought on by hormones or physiological changes, the onset of mental illness, the after-effects of abuse or abandonment, or substance abuse.

Like a red flag, a teenager’s behavior may be pointing out family or personal problems that are at least contributing factors, which need to be addressed as well.
