  • Grades Falling Out Of Control (11-5-2010)

    PODCAST SCRIPT:

If your teenager’s grades are falling, don’t assume anything until you discover the underlying reasons.

Bad grades can be the result of defiance or laziness, but they can just as likely be the result of poor study habits, attention deficit, a conflict with a teacher, bullying, physical issues, too heavy a schedule, too little sleep, substance abuse, or a myriad of other causes. It can even be due to conflicts of other family members in the home.

So, before you start thinking about consequences for poor grades, be sure to understand the causes. Demands for better grades can do more harm than good if the causes for falling grades are beyond the child’s control.
