  • The Barrier Of Higher Standards (10-14-2010)

    PODCAST SCRIPT:

When friends understand that your family lives according to different standards, they’ll be less likely to push your teen to go against those standards.

The key to using your family standards as a barrier to undue influences is to have your child’s friends over as often as possible. Use that as an opportunity to talk about the bedrock values of your family. In fact, post them in a prominent place, like by the front door. Never preach, but just remind them of the standards your entire family lives by.

If they are good friends, they’ll think twice before encouraging your teen to break such important family standards, even if they don’t live by those standards themselves.
